| Joel Kirkpatrick was born on July 13, 1987. He was a bright, vital child and friend to everyone who met him. On October 13, 1997, Joel was stabbed to death by an intruder in his Lawrenceville home. Joel was only 10 years old. His mother, Julie Rea Kirkpatrick, suffered numerous injuries, having been assaulted and beaten coming to his defense. Joel's murderer has not been found. | ||

Julie and Joel's relationship was one of love, respect, and caring. Julie made life decisions based on what would create a better life for Joel. She was constantly fighting to protect Joel from harm, both physical and emotional. Julie did not believe in physical punishment, disciplining Joel through reasoning and non-physical correction. Julie has been falsely accused of murdering Joel! Despite evidence to the contrary, the officials of the state of Illinois have indicted Julie. Read more here. |
